![]() But I still use Hexagon, even if it developement is quite down. ![]() Carrara is all-in-one 3d suite, competing Cinema4d, Shade,… I first start 3d with these software, but seeing the low enough capacities of Carrara for rendering, I decided to learn Blender. Eovia ( the french company who created Carrara, Amapi,…) decided to simplify Amapi, just keeping poly modeling, to create Hexagon ( the nickname of France). At the beginning, Amapi had an hybrid way to model, combining poly and nurbs. Hexagon wasn’t called Carrara, it was developped from Amapi 7 designer. Hexagon I know from the time it was called Carrara - it is a pretty decent modeling tool with some seriously useful options compared to Blender. It is sad Amapi Pro 8 was killed this would have been a killer application because it has a polygon modeling construction history !īut after all those apps are currently for free and I see them more as tools and not as solutions. The only took the boolean tool from Amapi. I am bit bumped that they deflated the bevel tool. I think BMesh will make short work out of Hexagon in some areas - but it still has a very good polygon modeling focused workflow with few tools not in Blender at all. Does it say what the software can only do? Not really. Well when you look at Blender there are also a lot of chrome ball on a checker board surface like rendering. However if put to real work is pretty powerful - the render engine is pretty strong. However I think many only look at it from a visual stand point and see a lot of manga like work done with it. ![]() ![]() Well fact is DAZ has very professional human models and I often do not have the time to build characters when I need a specific proportion - the client would also not pay for it anyway. ![]()
